External Security Commissioner of the Foreign Ministry Cheng Guoping Meets with Turkish Ambassador to China Abdülkadir Emin Önen

On May 19, 2020, External Security Commissioner of the Foreign Ministry Cheng Guoping met with Turkish Ambassador to China Abdülkadir Emin Önen, exchanging views on bilateral relations and security cooperation between both countries.

Cheng Guoping noted, China and Turkey have rendered support to each other in the response to COVID-19, which showcases the connotation of China-Turkey strategic cooperative relations and the friendly feelings between the two peoples. Cheng Guoping expressed China's readiness to work with Turkey to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, enhance political mutual trust, understand and support each others on issues regarding respective core interests and major concerns, and deepen cooperation in security and others fields, in a bid to take forward China-Turkey relations.

Citing the phrase, "a friend in need is a friend indeed", Abdülkadir Emin Önen expressed, Turkey and China have helped each other in fighting the epidemic, sending a positive signal of unity and cooperation to the outside world. Attaching great importance to its relations with China, the Turkish side hopes to intensify high-level exchanges and deepen practical cooperation with the Chinese side so as to push bilateral relations for more outcomes.
