NHC Update on COVID-19 Cases in China

1. Between 00:00 and 24:00, 23 June, the following were reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 12 confirmed cases (3 imported, including 2 in Shanghai and 1 in Shaanxi; 9 local, including 7 in Beijing and 2 in Hebei);

b) no fatal cases;

c) 4 suspected cases (all local in Beijing);

d) 3 cured and discharged cases;

e) 584 close contacts released from medical observation; and

f) 1 fewer severe case than the previous day.

2. As of 24:00, 23 June, among all the imported cases, 87 confirmed cases (1 severe case) were still under treatment and no suspected cases awaiting test results. In total, 1,888 imported cases had been confirmed, 1,801 cases cured and discharged, and no fatal cases reported.

3. As of 24:00, 23 June, the following had been reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 368 confirmed cases (12 severe cases) still under treatment;

b) 78,428 cured and discharged cases;

c) 4,634 fatal cases;

d) 83,430 confirmed cases;

e) 18 suspected cases pending test results; and

f) 759,279 close contacts traced (including 7,557 still under medical observation).

4. Between 00:00 and 24:00, 23 June, the following asymptomatic cases were reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 3 new cases (1 imported);

b) 1 case developed into confirmed case (not imported);

c) 1 case released from medical observation (imported); and

d) 100 asymptomatic cases still under medical observation (59 imported).

5. As of 24:00, 23 June, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan had altogether reported 1,668 confirmed cases:

a) 1,177 in the Hong Kong SAR (including 1,083 discharged cases and 6 fatal cases);

b) 45 in the Macao SAR (all discharged from hospital); and

c) 446 in the Taiwan region (including 435 discharged cases and 7 fatal cases).
