State Post Bureau: All Couriers in Beijing Tested Negative for COVID-19

As of 24:00, 27 June, all major express delivery companies in Beijing have completed nucleic acid tests (NATs) of their couriers as planned. All of the 104,807 staff taken the test received negative results.

Starting from 19 June, with the guidance and support from the Beijing Municipal Postal Administration, Beijing postal service and express delivery companies have been organizing NATs for all their front-line workers. The initiative is aimed at protecting the workers and the whole industry from COVID-19 and providing better delivery services to Beijing residents in this special time.

Priorities are well-defined for different companies and districts. With good coordination and collaboration between courier companies and city- and district-level COVID-19 response agencies, the mass testing initiative was completed as scheduled.

The State Post Bureau will continue to guide express delivery companies to coordinate various resources, optimize the network and routing, and deliver through smart lockers and courier stations, in an effort to ensure the delivery of food and daily necessities on a priority basis.

The Bureau will also ensure strict implementation of the latest version of the Suggestions on the Production and Operation Norms for Postal and Courier Services during COVID-19 Containment across the industry. Companies are required to see that face masks are properly worn, crowding is avoided and working places and parcels are ventilated and disinfected, so as to ensure safety and health of both their employees and clients.
