NHC Update on COVID-19 Cases in China

1. Between 00:00 and 24:00, 20 July, the following were reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 11 confirmed cases (3 imported, including 2 in Shanghai and 1 in Sichuan; 8 local, including 7 in Xinjiang and 1 in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps);

b) no fatal cases;

c) no suspected cases;

d) 18 cured and discharged cases;

e) 251 close contacts released from medical observation; and

f) 2 more severe cases than the previous day.

2. As of 24:00, 20 July, among all the imported cases, 80 confirmed cases (including 3 severe cases) were still under treatment and 1 suspected case awaiting test result. In total, 2,015 imported cases had been confirmed, 1,935 cases cured and discharged, and no fatal cases reported.

3. As of 24:00, 20 July, the following had been reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 242 confirmed cases (including 7 severe cases) still under treatment;

b) 78,817 cured and discharged cases;

c) 4,634 fatal cases;

d) 83,693 confirmed cases;

e) 1 suspected case pending test result; and

f) 772,488 close contacts traced (including 7,108 still under medical observation).

4. Between 00:00 and 24:00, 20 July, the following asymptomatic cases were reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 6 new cases (1 imported);

b) 1 case developed into confirmed cases;

c) 10 cases released from medical observation (7 imported); and

d) 149 cases still under medical observation (80 imported).

5. As of 24:00, 20 July, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan had altogether reported 2,459 confirmed cases:

a) 1,958 in the Hong Kong SAR (including 1,302 discharged cases and 12 fatal cases);

b) 46 in the Macao SAR (46 discharged from hospital); and

c) 455 in the Taiwan region (including 440 discharged cases and 7 fatal cases).
