NHC Update on COVID-19 Cases in China

1. Between 00:00 and 24:00, 22 July, the following were reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 22 confirmed cases (3 imported, including 1 in Shanghai, 1 in Guangdong and 1 in Shaanxi; 19 local,including 18 in Xinjiang and 1 in Liaoning);

b) no fatal cases;

c) 3 suspected cases (2 imported in Shanghai and 1local in Liaoning);

d) 15 cured and discharged cases;

e) 378 close contacts released from medical observation; and

f) 5 more severe cases than the previous day.

2. As of 24:00, 22 July, among all the imported cases, 76 confirmed cases (including 2 severe cases) were still under treatment and 3 suspected cases awaiting test results. In total, 2,023 imported cases had been confirmed, 1,947 cases cured and discharged, and no fatal cases reported.

3. As of 24:00, 22 July, the following had been reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 240 confirmed cases (including 11 severe cases) still under treatment;

b) 78,855 cured and discharged cases;

c) 4,634 fatal cases;

d) 83,729 confirmed cases;

e) 4 suspected cases pending test results; and

f) 773,412 close contacts traced (including 7,218 still under medical observation).

4. Between 00:00 and 24:00, 22 July, the following asymptomatic cases were reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 31 new cases (7 imported);

b) 16 cases developed into confirmed cases (none imported);

c) 3 cases released from medical observation (2 imported); and

d) 176 cases still under medical observation (89 imported).

5. As of 24:00, 22 July, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan had altogether reported 2,632 confirmed cases:

a) 2,131 in the Hong Kong SAR (including 1,344 discharged cases and 14 fatal cases);

b) 46 in the Macao SAR (all discharged from hospital); and

c) 455 in the Taiwan region (including 440 discharged cases and 7 fatal cases).
