President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin Sent Congratulatory Messages to the Eighth Meeting of the Dialogue Mechanism Between the Ruling Parties of China and Russia

The eighth meeting of the dialogue mechanism between the ruling parties of China and Russia was held via video link on 23 July. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and President of China, and Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, sent congratulatory messages to the meeting respectively.

In his message, President Xi offered warm congratulations to the meeting. He applauded the strong solidarity and close partnership between China and Russia in the face of COVID-19. The two countries have stood by each other's side in this trying time and worked together to oppose external interference. Such cooperation has added new strategic dimensions to the bilateral cooperation and attested to the deep friendship between the two peoples. The China-Russia relationship in the new era has shown great strength and exceptional quality.

Noting that COVID-19 is spreading worldwide, Xi underlined the importance of international unity and cooperation. As humanity lives in community with a shared future, countries must work together to defeat the virus. China and Russia, as responsible major countries and permanent members of the UN Security Council, should jointly tackle risks and challenges and oppose hegemonism and unilateralism through closer strategic communication and cooperation. Together, the two countries will make greater contribution to world peace and stability, international fairness and justice, and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Xi stressed that the dialogue mechanism between the ruling parties provides an important channel for strategic coordination between China and Russia. He encouraged the participants to have full and in-depth discussions and contribute their wisdom and efforts to deepening the China-Russia comprehensive strategic coordination in the new era.

In his congratulatory message, Putin said that Russia-China relations "have reached an unprecedentedly high level and are rightfully considered an example of interstate cooperation in the modern world." He described coordination between Moscow and Beijing in addressing pressing regional and global issues as conducive to international security and stability. The dialogue between the leading political parties is traditionally an important component of Russian-Chinese relations. The party of United Russia and the Chinese Communist Party have shared experience on a regular basis and made joint efforts to advance mutually beneficial cooperation projects in various fields. Putin commended both sides for making use of new means of remote communication to advance cooperation, and expressed confidence that the discussions will generate many new ideas and initiatives to further strengthen the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation between Russia and China.
