NHC Update on COVID-19 Cases in China

1. Between 00:00 and 24:00, 28 July, the following were reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 101 confirmed cases (3 imported, including 2 in Guangdong and 1 in Shanghai; 98 local, including 89 in Xinjiang, 8 in Liaoning and 1 in Beijing);

b) no fatal cases;

c) no new suspected cases;

d) 10 cured and discharged cases;

e) 325 close contacts released from medical observation; and

f) 5 more severe cases than the previous day.

2. As of 24:00, 28 July, among all the imported cases, 79 confirmed cases (including 2 severe cases) were still under treatment and 1 suspected case awaiting test result. In total, 2,056 imported cases had been confirmed, 1,977 cases cured and discharged, and no fatal cases reported.

3. As of 24:00, 28 July, the following had been reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 482 confirmed cases (including 25 severe cases) still under treatment;

b) 78,944 cured and discharged cases;

c) 4,634 fatal cases;

d) 84,060 confirmed cases;

e) 1 suspected case pending test result; and

f) 783,053 close contacts traced (including 15,034 still under medical observation).

4. Between 00:00 and 24:00, 28 July, the following asymptomatic cases were reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 27 new cases (8 imported);

b) 51 cases developed into confirmed cases (none imported);

c) 9 cases released from medical observation (5 imported); and

d) 273 cases still under medical observation (91 imported).

5. As of 24:00, 28 July, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan had altogether reported 3,397 confirmed cases:

a) 2,884 in the Hong Kong SAR (including 1,527 discharged cases and 23 fatal cases);

b) 46 in the Macao SAR (all discharged from hospital); and

c) 467 in the Taiwan region (including 440 discharged cases and 7 fatal cases).
