NHC Update on COVID-19 Cases in China (24:00, 27 August)

1. Between 00:00 and 24:00, 27 August, the following were reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 9 confirmed cases (all imported, including 4 in Sichuan, 3 in Shanghai, 1 in Fujian, and 1 in Guangdong);

b) no fatal cases;

c) 2 suspected cases (both imported in Shanghai);

d) 45 cured and discharged cases;

e) 1,654 close contacts released from medical observation; and

f) no changes in the number of severe cases.

2. As of 24:00, 27 August, among all the imported cases, 193 confirmed cases (4 severe cases) were still under treatment and 3 suspected cases awaiting test results. In total, 2,464 imported cases had been confirmed, 2,271 cases cured and discharged, and no fatal cases reported.

3. As of 24:00, 27 August, the following had been reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 288 confirmed cases (including 4 severe cases) still under treatment;

b) 80,091 cured and discharged cases;

c) 4,634 fatal cases;

d) 85,013 confirmed cases;

e) 3 suspected cases pending test results; and

f) 814,039 close contacts traced (including 10,040 still under medical observation).

4. Between 00:00 and 24:00, 27 August, the following asymptomatic cases were reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 16 new cases (all imported);

b) 2 cases developed into confirmed cases (both imported);

c) 21 cases released from medical observation (18 imported); and

d) 358 cases still under medical observation (313 imported).

5. As of 24:00, 27 August, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan had altogether reported 5,288 confirmed cases:

a) 4,755 in the Hong Kong SAR (including 4,200 discharged cases and 81 fatal cases);

b) 46 in the Macao SAR (all discharged from hospital); and

c) 487 in the Taiwan region (including 462 discharged cases and 7 fatal cases).
