NHC Update on COVID-19 Cases in China (24:00, 3 September)

1. Between 00:00 and 24:00, 3 September, the following were reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 25 confirmed cases (all imported, including 13 in Guangdong, 5 in Shanghai, 2 in Guangxi, 2 in Shaanxi, 1 in Tianjin, 1 in Fujian and 1 in Sichuan);

b) no fatal cases;

c) no suspected cases;

d) 12 cured and discharged cases;

e) 477 close contacts released from medical observation; and

f) no changes in the number of severe cases.

2. As of 24:00, 3 September, among all the imported cases, 189 confirmed cases (including 3 severe cases) were still under treatment and no suspected cases awaiting test results. In total, 2,553 imported cases had been confirmed, 2,364 cases cured and discharged, and no fatal cases reported.

3. As of 24:00, 3 September, the following had been reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 205 confirmed cases (including 3 severe cases) still under treatment;

b) 80,263 cured and discharged cases;

c) 4,634 fatal cases;

d) 85,102 confirmed cases;

e) no suspected cases pending test results; and

f) 817,696 close contacts traced (including 7,610 still under medical observation).

4. Between 00:00 and 24:00, 3 September, the following asymptomatic cases were reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 26 new cases (all imported);

b) 2 cases developed into confirmed cases (both imported);

c) 15 cases released from medical observation (13 imported); and

d) 358 cases still under medical observation (345 imported).

5. As of 24:00, 3 September, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan had altogether reported 5,373 confirmed cases:

a) 4,838 in the Hong Kong SAR (including 4,431 discharged cases and 94 fatal cases);

b) 46 in the Macao SAR (all discharged from hospital); and

c) 489 in the Taiwan region (including 471 discharged cases and 7 fatal cases).
