2021/03/19

On March 19, 2021, the Secretariat of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) held a celebration of the International Day of Nowruz. Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng attended the event at invitation and delivered a speech.

Le Yucheng extended festive congratulations to the guests and said that the joint celebration of the International Day of Nowruz by SCO countries is a concrete manifestation of the "Shanghai Spirit" and the best interpretation of the "big family of the SCO". Since its establishment 20 years ago, the SCO has stood the test of time and become an important and constructive force in the Eurasian region and international affairs. In particular, since the outbreak of COVID-19, member states have supported each other in the fight against the pandemic, actively promoted cooperation in various fields, and set a successful example of international fight against the pandemic and multilateral cooperation.

Le Yucheng said that standing at the new historical starting point, SCO faces an even broader prospects for development. This year, China will celebrate the centenary of the Communist Party of China (CPC), embark on a new journey toward fully building a modern socialist country, and take the first step towards a new development paradigm of "dual circulation". China is ready to share development opportunities with all parties, achieve win-win cooperation and jointly build a closer SCO community with a shared future.

Diplomatic envoys from SCO member states, observer states and dialogue partners as well as representatives from relevant countries and international organizations in China attended the event.
