Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Jianghao Holds China-Vietnam Diplomatic Consultations with Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu

On July 15, 2021, Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Jianghao held China-Vietnam Diplomatic Consultations with Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu via video link.

The two sides comprehensively reviewed and spoke positively of the recent developments in China-Vietnam relations, reiterated the importance of strengthening solidarity and cooperation under the current situation, and emphasized that both sides should follow the guidance of the top leaders of both parties and both countries, continue to promote good-neighborly friendship, deepen pragmatic exchanges and cooperation, and engage in more coordination on multilateral occasions to promote the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level. Vietnam once again congratulated China on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and thanked China for its assistance with the COVID-19 vaccines. The two sides agreed to continue to strengthen cooperation in fighting the pandemic.

The two sides exchanged views on the territorial border and maritime affairs and agreed to properly handle the existing differences in accordance with the Agreement on the Basic Principles Guiding the Settlement of Sea-related Issues Between the People's Republic of China and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, steadily push forward maritime cooperation and create favorable conditions for the sustained, sound and stable development of China-Vietnam relations.
