Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Liu Jinsong Meets with Pakistani Ambassador to China Moin ul Haque

2021/08/11

On August 10, 2021, Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Liu Jinsong met with Pakistani Ambassador to China Moin ul Haque. Both sides exchanged candid and in-depth views on bilateral relations, anti-pandemic cooperation, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and the Dasu terrorist attack.

Liu Jinsong said, "Just as strong wind tests the strength of grass, time will reveal the true character of a person." Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 70 years ago, China and Pakistan have come through the vicissitudes and tests of major events, and grown even stronger as time goes by. The two countries have offered each other support and worked closely in response to the world-ravaging coronavirus pandemic and the complex and changeable international and regional situation, and pushed forward economic and trade cooperation against the headwinds, demonstrating a unique ironclad friendship. The Dasu terrorist attack is the biggest terrorist attack that recently happened to overseas Chinese. China and Pakistan, both of which are victims, should work closely together to find out the truth by each and all necessary means and bring the perpetrators to justice. Meanwhile, the two sides should seize the opportunity of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations to carry out close communication and dialogue, strengthen cooperation in COVID-19 response, counter-terrorism and security, promote the high-quality development of the CPEC, and ensure that the boat of China-Pakistan relations cleaves the waves. Mr. Ambassador received President Xi Jinping's historic visit to Pakistan in 2015 as Chief of Protocol of the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs. And, I would like to express my appreciation for your efforts to extensively communicate with people from all sectors of society in China and actively promote bilateral cooperation during your first year as Ambassador to China. I look forward to building a good working relationship and personal friendship with you, and jointly raising China-Pakistan relations to a new level.

Haque said, Pakistan and China have always supported each other firmly on issues involving each other's core interests and provided sincere help when the other side faces difficulties and challenges, which is the solid foundation of the unbreakable friendship between the two countries. Pakistan sincerely appreciates China's valuable support in its fight against the pandemic, including the provision of vaccines, looks forward to continued and greater help from China, and firmly opposes the politicization of the virus origin tracing. The CPEC matters to the future of Pakistan, and Pakistan is firmly committed to speeding up its construction. Pakistan strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Dasu and considers the loss of our Chinese brothers as our own. Pakistan vows to seek the truth and severely punish the real murderers, and will take all necessary security actions to provide safeguards for the practical cooperation between Pakistan and China. It is an honor for all Pakistani diplomats to serve as Ambassador to China. I will contribute to the development of bilateral relations to the best of my ability.
