Qin Gang Meets with Pakistani Chief of the Army Staff Syed Asim Munir

On May 6, 2023 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang met with Pakistani Chief of the Army Staff Syed Asim Munir in Islamabad, Pakistan.

Qin Gang said that China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic cooperative partners, and the friendship between the two peoples has been rock-solid and grown from strength to strength with renewed vitality. China expects to work with Pakistan to achieve higher-quality cooperation, jointly meet challenges, and pursue common development and prosperity. China firmly supports Pakistan in achieving unity and stability, developing an independent and strong economy, and cracking down on terrorism. China stands ready to work with Pakistan to jointly advance high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and strengthen military exchanges and defense cooperation.

Munir said that Pakistan and China are all-weather friends and brothers. As the Pakistani people often say, the Pakistan-China friendship is higher than mountains, deeper than oceans and sweeter than honey. This is the expression of the true feelings of the Pakistani people and also a broad consensus of the Pakistani people from all walks of life. The Pakistani army is firmly committed to carrying forward the Pakistan-China friendship and building an unbreakable Pakistan-China community with a shared future.

The two sides also exchanged views on Afghanistan and other international and regional issues of mutual interest and concern.
