Ambassador Xu Jianguo presents the Letters of Credence to President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo

On September 26, 2006, Mr. Xu Jianguo, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China, presented the Letters of Credence to Mr. Olusegun Obasanjo, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Ambassador Xu conveyed the cordial greetings of Mr. Hu Jintao, President of the People's Republic of China, to President Obasanjo, and highly appraised the significant contributions that the Nigerian President had make to the sound development of the China-Nigeria Strategic Partnership. Xu added that he would leave no stone unturned in promoting the bilateral relations to a new high.

President Obasanjo warmly welcomed Ambassador Xu, and highly commented the development of the Nigeria-China friendly relations in the recent years, and sincerely hoped that the bilateral relations and cooperation would witness further growth in the tenure of the new Chinese ambassador.

Ambassador Xu and his wife arrived in Abuja, Nigeria on September 23.
