Ambassador Xu Jianguo met with the Nigerian National Leaders

In early October, 2006, the new Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Xu Jianguo, paid courtesy calls to H.E. Mr. Atiku Abubakar, Vice President of Nigeria, H.E. Mr. Kenechukwu Nnamani, Senate President of Nigeria, and H.E. Mr. Ibrahim Mantu, Deputy Senate President of Nigeria, respectively.

Ambassador Xu conveyed the warm greetings of the Chinese national leaders to their Nigerian counterparts. The ambassador said that China and Nigeria enjoyed long-time friendship and witnessed the establishment of the Strategic Partnership in early 2006, and the Chinese side hopes to work together with the Nigerian side to bring the bilateral friendly relations and cooperation to a new high. Ambassador Xu promised to leave no stone unturned to fufill the glory goal.

The Nigerian leaders asked Ambassador Xu to transmit their heartfelt greetings to their Chinese counterparts. They highly appraised the development of the Nigerian-China relations and expressed their best wishes for continued development of friendship and cooperation.

After presenting the Letter of Credence to H.E. Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, President of Nigeria, on September 26, 2006, Ambassador Xu Jianguo, began his courtesy calls to senior Nigerian officials and the diplomatic corps in Abuja.

On October 5, Ambassador Xu paid a courtesy call to Mr. Mustapha Bello, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission.
