Ambassador Li Minggang Holds Symposium with Local Media

On December 24th 2019, Ambassador Li Minggang held a media symposium, attended by approximately 30 participants from local media outletsincluding KUNA Deputy Director-General Saad Al-Ali,and representatives from Kuwaiti newspapers Al Anba, Al Qabas, Al Seyassah, Al Rai, Al Jarida, Al Nahar and Kuwait Times, Kuwait Television, and Xinhua News Agency.

   

Ambassador Li briefly introduced the recent developments and outcomes of China-Kuwait relations, as well as China's achievements over the past 70 years since its establishment. Li said that at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah paid a successful state visit to China in 2018, and both heads of state agreed to establish a strategic partnership between the two countries. China-Kuwait relationship is at its best in history with stronger political mutual trust, fruitful outcomes in pragmatic cooperation, and flourishing cultural and people-to-people exchanges. China, by pursuing an opening up strategy of mutual benefit, is willing to work together with Kuwait to constantly promote China-Kuwait strategic partnership to higher level.

Li also highlighted the preventive anti-terrorism and de-radicalization measures legally adoptedin Xinjiang region by the Chinese government in recent years, emphasizing the positive and significant outcomes of such measures in delivering social stability and promoting sustained economic growth, and that no extremist incidents have occurred in Xinjiang in the past three years. Xinjiang affairs are purely China's internal affairs, and China firmly opposesthe malicious hype and slanders by the U.S. and somewestern countrieson Xinjiang issues.

Representing the Kuwaiti media, KUNA Deputy Director-General Saad Al-Ali said in his speech that the rapid development of Kuwait-China relationship has seen significant outcomes in bilateral media cooperation. The opening of KUNA's first office in China would be conducive to the deepening of such cooperation between the two countries. He expressed his hope that Kuwait-China and Arab-China media outlets would further bolster exchanges and cooperation in the field of media ad journalism, contributing to promoting mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples.

   

Li also answered questions from the local media regarding China-Kuwait relations, bilateral cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, and regional developments. The 2-hour event was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Participants positively commended China's development achievements and fruitful results in China-Kuwait pragmatic cooperation, indicating that they would continue to report on news about China and China-Kuwait relationship in an objective and impartial manner to introduce a more vivid and real China to the Kuwaiti audience. The event was extensively covered by the above-mentioned media outlets.
