On the morning of 28 February 2020, a video conference was held between the Chinese Mission to the EU and representatives from the EU Chamber of Commerce in China (EUCCC). Ambassador Zhang Ming listened to their concerns related to resumption of business activities in the context of fighting COVID-19. The conference was attended by more than ten executives of European companies in China, including Jöerg Wuttke, EUCCC President and Chief Representative of BASF China, and Jens Eskelund, EUCCC Vice President and Managing Director of Maersk China.

Ambassador Zhang Ming briefed the entrepreneurs on China's response to the COVID-19 outbreak and listened to their views and concerns about how to smoothly resume activities and maintain the normal operation of the companies. Ambassador Zhang said that Chinese President Xi Jinping has made it clear that China's response to the outbreak must go hand in hand with its endeavor to advance economic and social development to ensure the targets for this year are met. The Chinese government always attaches great importance to the development of European companies in China and will do its best to help them to go through the difficult time. As most of the representatives said, the Chinese economy is resilient, and its positive fundamentals will not change as a result of the outbreak. Solidarity and confidence will help us overcome the difficulties and bring even more opportunities for development.
