On 5th October 2020, the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait presented two special issues with Kuwait's most widely circulated Arabic daily Al-Anba and English daily Kuwait Times to mark the 71st anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

In the congratulatory message, Ambassador Li Minggang said that over the past 71 years, the Chinese people have achieved a remarkable transformation from standing up, growing rich to becoming strong, and have blazed a development path that suits China's actual conditions. After going through many vicissitudes and various explorations, the Chinese people have finally chosen the Communist Party of China as the governing party to lead them to make remarkable achievements in China's development. In just a few decades, China has completed an industrialization process that took developed countries several hundred years. China has become the world's second largest economy with its GDP exceeding 14 trillion US dollars and the largest trading partner of more than 120 countries and regions, and is expected to become the world's largest consumer market.

Ambassador Li noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping once said, "Whether the shoe fits or not, only the wearer knows." Facts have proved that China has chosen the right path, which is also the true feeling of the Chinese people. Although China's GDP per capita has just exceeded 10,000 U.S. dollars, which ranks around 50th in the world, China still faces the problem of unbalanced and inadequate development, and many regions remain economically underdeveloped. However, the Chinese people believe that with a resolute focus on their path and concerted efforts, China will become a great modern country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious and beautiful by the time of the centenary of the founding of New China.

Speaking about China-Kuwait relations, Ambassador Li said that Kuwait was the first Gulf country to establish diplomatic relations with China. As good friends of mutual trust and good partners of sincere cooperation, both countries always support each other on issues involving each other's core interests and major concerns. Recent years have witnessed the deepening of China-Kuwait relations. In 2018, at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah paid a state visit to China. The two heads of state agreed to establish a strategic partnership between the two countries to open a new chapter of China-Kuwait relationship. Kuwait was also the first Arab country to sign a cooperation agreement with Chinaunder the Belt and Road Initiative. China's Belt and Road Initiative is highly aligned with the Kuwait Vision 2035, and bilateral cooperation in such areas as energy, infrastructure construction, finance, investment and people-to-people exchange has achieved fruitful outcomes. In the face of the COVID-19 epidemic this year, China and Kuwait have stood firmly together to combat the virus, which demonstrates the profound friendship and solidarity between the two countries and reflects the high level of the China-Kuwait strategic partnership. Next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Kuwait. China is ready to work in concert with the Kuwaiti counterparts to bring the China-Kuwait strategic partnership to new heights in order to yield more benefits for the two countries and peoples, and promote regional peace and development.

The National Day Special Issue highlights the "China solution" to uphold multilateralism and build a community of shared future for mankind, which was put forward against the backdrop of the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic and profound changes unprecedented in a century, has vividly demonstrated China's sense of responsibility, mission and role as a major countryin the new era. It presentsChina's major strategic gains of swift epidemic control, quick work and production resumption, and turning economic development from negative to positiveby detailed examples and figures, underlining the strong resilience and dynamism of China's economy amid the pandemic. It introduces the country's ethnic and religious policies, as well as Xinjiang's effective measures and major outcomes therefrom in counter-terrorism and de-radicalization, achieving economic and social development and protecting legitimate right of people from all ethnic groups. Itfurther elaborates in more depth China's position and policies on regional hot-spot issues, and reflects China's consistentstance, namely maintaining objective and impartial, promoting dialogues for peace, and steadfastly committed to regional peace, stability and development.
