Chinese Ambassador to Jamaica Chen Daojiang Presents Credentials to the Governor-General of Jamaica

H.E. Mr. Chen Daojiang, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Jamaica, presented Credentials to H.E. the Most Honourable Sir Patrick Allen, Governor-General of Jamaica, at King’s House on 17 June 2022.

Ambassador Chen conveyed cordial greetings and best wishes from President Xi Jinping to the Governor-General Patrick Allen. Ambassador Chen said that Jamaica has always been China’s important cooperation partner in the Caribbean region since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Jamaica in 1972. China-Jamaica relations embraces new opportunities for development as this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. As the 16th Chinese Ambassador to Jamaica, I stand ready to work with the Jamaican side to implement the strategic consensus reached by leaders of our two countries, and enhance bilateral practical cooperation in various fields so as to promote China-Jamaica strategic partnership to a higher level and bring more benefits to our two countries and two peoples.

Governor-General Patrick Allen asked Ambassador Chen to convey his cordial greetings and best wishes to President Xi Jinping and welcomed Ambassador Chen to his new post, saying that China is a good friend and good partner of Jamaica and extending gratitude to China’s long-standing support and assistance for Jamaica. Governor-General Patrick Allen said that Jamaica is willing to work with China to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to strengthen bilateral communication and cooperation and make new progress for China-Jamaica strategic partnership.

Ambassador Chen reviewed the guard of honour of the King’s House before the presentation of his Credentials. 

Ambassador Chen arrived in Jamaica on 30 May 2022, and presented the copy of Credentials to Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica on 7 June 2022.
