Ambassador Zhang Jianwei Meets with Kuwaiti Deputy PM and Oil Minister Bader Hamed Yousef Al-Mulla

On December 27, 2022, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei met with Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Oil Minister Bader Hamed Yousef Al-Mulla, with the presence of Cheng Yongru, Economic and Commercial Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait. The two sides exchanged opinions on energy cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador Zhang briefed Bader on the 20th CPC National Congress, the first China-Arab States Summit and the China-GCC Summit and the meeting between leaders of the two countries, pointing out that the Congress laid out the tasks and path of advancing the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through Chinese modernization, and provided a blueprint for China’s future development. China will remain committed to deeper reform and wider opening-up, thus creating new opportunities for Kuwait and other countries worldwide. Ambassador Zhang noted that as a trustworthy friend and close partner of Kuwait, China will take the opportunity of the success of the first China-Arab States Summit and the China-GCC Summit to consolidate our energy cooperation, deepen bilateral cooperation across the oil industrial chain, and strengthen synergy between China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Kuwait Vision 2035. Through tapping the potential of our cooperation, we will be able to score new achievements in our practical cooperation.

For his part, Bader said that Kuwaiti and Chinese economies have a high degree of mutual complementarity, adding that China is a major partner of Kuwait. Kuwait will draw on advanced technologies and development experience of China and further deepen bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, thus delivering greater benefits to the two countries and peoples.
