Albanian President Holds First Chinese Spring Festival Reception for Chinese in Albania

On January 24, 2014, Albanian President Bujar Nishani held a warm reception at the Presidential Palace to celebrate the Spring Festival of the Chinese Year of the Horse. More than 100 people were present, including Albanian President Nishani, H.E. Ye Hao, Chinese Ambassador to Albania, all diplomats of the Chinese Embassy, representatives of the overseas Chinese in Albania, China-funded institutions and overseas Chinese students, and the Albanian people friendly to China.

President Nishani delivers a speech

President Nishani extended heartfelt New Year greetings to the Chinese friends present at the reception, and to the Chinese people around the world. He said in his speech that the Spring Festival is a time for family reunions for the Chinese people, and Albania is also a "home" for the Chinese friends present. Despite the geographical distance keeping Albania and China far apart, the two countries share much in common. For more than two decades, both countries have undergone major changes and rapid growth. He believed that the two countries will continue to maintain the momentum of rapid growth in the new year and the future years. This year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Albania and China, and the bilateral friendly cooperative relations are enjoying smooth development on the right path based on the traditional friendship. He believed that with the joint efforts of both sides, the Albania-China relations will surely achieve greater development in the future.

Ambassador Ye delivers a speech

In his speech, Ambassador Ye thanked President Nishani for holding the Chinese Spring Festival reception. He said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Albania 65 years ago, the bilateral relations have been strengthened constantly, with comprehensively deepened cooperation in all fields such as politics, economy, culture and education. In the past year of 2013, China-Albania cooperation yielded fruitful results in all fields. Looking into the future, China-Albania pragmatic cooperation will enjoy bright prospects. 2014 is the Chinese Year of the Horse, and horses symbolize vitality and success in the Chinese culture. He wished the China-Albania relations lasting vitality, galloping development and all success in the new year.

Ambassador Ye and President Nishani hold cordial talks

The Presidential Palace was decorated with colorful streamers and six big red Chinese lanterns which symbolize festivity. The guests tasted Chinese dumplings and a variety of Albanian cuisines to celebrate the traditional Chinese New Year in advance.
