(From Chinese Embassy in Afghanistan)

2015/10/28

On October 28th, 2015, H.E. Mr. Yao Jing, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Afghanistan met Mr. Dindar, Acting President of the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) and provided USD100,000 in cash on behalf of the Red Cross Society of China to the ARCS as emergency humanitarian aid for carrying out the rescue and relief work.

Ambassador Yao said that the powerful earthquake occurred on October 26th in northeast Afghanistan caused heavy casualties and property losses. Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang and Foreign Minister Wang Yi already sent messages of condolences to their counterparts. Chinese Government also announced emergency relief supplies with the value of RMB10,000,000 to Afghan Government. China stood ready to provide with assistance and support to Afghanistan as its capacity follows. I believed that under the leadership of Afghan government, Afghan people could overcome the disaster and rebuild the homeland.

Mr. Dindar expressed his gratitude for China's philanthropic acts and said that, China has firmly supported Afghan peaceful reconstruction for a long time and rendered sincere and selfless assistance to Afghanistan, which would never be forgotten by the Afghan people. China was the first country to provide aid in cash to Afghanistan after the earthquake, which once again showed China was the most trustworthy friend of Afghanistan. I believed that with the help from China and the international community, the Afghan government and its people could overcome difficulties and accomplish the post-disaster reconstruction work.
