China Provides Emergency Food Assistance and Humanitarian Aid to South Sudan

On October 12, 2017, The Chinese Government transferred the third batch of emergency relief rice to the South Sudanese government, which is 60-containers-load rice of 1,500 tons. The Chinese side also handed over 27 containers of non-food items including 3,700 tents, 15,000 pcs of mosquito nets and 30,000 blankets.

The first 2 batches of emergency relief rice with the quantity of 2,750 tons were handed over in August and September of 2017.

The 4th batch of another 1,000 tons of rice is now forwarding from Mombasa of Kenya to Juba, and the 5th batch of 1,000 tons of rice is on the way of sea transportation. The rest of the rice shall be shipped to South Sudan in several batches according to the handling capacity of RRC.

Since December 2013, China has been continuously providing both regular and emergency humanitarian assistance South Sudan. China will continue, within its capacity, providing strong support to South Sudanese people in the areas of humanitarian aid and nation building.
