On 15th September, 2019, the Chinese Kung-fu performance in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China was successfully held at Kigali Convention Centre. The event was organised by Rwanda Kung-fu Wushu Federation in partnership with the Chinese Embassy in Rwanda. Over 500 spectators from Rwandan government and social communities, diplomatic corps, Chinese companies and institutes attended the event.

H. E. RAO Hongwei, Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda, said in his speech that, as a legacy of the Chinese culture, the spirit of Kung-fu was to stop the fighting or conflict by weapons. With a view to serving the peaceful development of mankind, Chinese Kung-fu was gaining popularity around the world as a kind of common sport for all and became a tie of friendship and cultural exchanges linking people from different countries. Under the theme of our times, different countries should promote mutual respect, uphold equity and justice, and engage in win-win cooperation. Those bullying acts of unilateralism, "trade wars" or "conflict of civilisations" were against the general trend of our times and were doomed to be renounced by the history and the international community. China had been committed to the path of peaceful development and win-win cooperation with other countries, in a bid to jointly build a new model of international relations and a community with a shared future for mankind. China's growth had served as a stabilizer of the world economic growth in recent years. China would continue to follow the socialist path with Chinese characteristics suited to China's national conditions and upheld the mission to pursue the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and to contribute to human progress at large.

Mr. Festus Bizimana, Vice President of Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee and Mr. Marc Uwiragiye, President of Rwanda Kung-fu Wushu Federation appreciated the Chinese government and the Chinese enterprises in Rwanda for their positive contribution to the local development in different fields including sports over the years. As good friends and partners, the Rwandan people was willing to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China with the Chinese people and to share the happiness.

During the performance, over ten kinds of boxing and fencing techniques such as shaolinquan, nanquan and changquan were demonstrated. The Chinese and Rwanda songs and dances implied friendship and peace closely kept to the theme of the performance. The Rwandan dance shown the beauty of the Rwandan traditional culture. The whole performance was a perfect combination of the Chinese and Rwandan cultural elements with various forms and numerous climax, showed the profound China-Rwanda people-to-people friendship.
