Join hands to battle virus with our South Sudanese brothers

On March 18, the video conference for knowledge and experience sharing on COVID-19 prevention and control was hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Juba. The heads and experts from Anhui Provincial Health Commission, Anhui Provincial CDC, the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University, Chinese Medical Team to South Sudan, South Sudan's Ministry of Health, and WHO Office in South Sudan were connected together throught internet.

   

Ambassador Hua Ning first paid tribute on behalf of the Embassy to all Anhui medical staff who have been fighting the epidemic at the frontline. He thanked the Anhui Province especially Anhui Health Commission, for their strong support to the friendly cooperation between China and South Sudan over the years by sending Medical Teams, organizing medical staff training, donating medical supplies and equipment. Anhui Province plays a special role in the development of South Sudan's medical and health service.

Ambassador Hua said that the COVID-19 is global epidemic and confirmed cases have appeared in many African countries. The prevention and control of the epidemic has become a prominent challenge for the new transitional government of South Sudan. At this critical moment, as response to the request from the Chinese Embassy, the relevant departments of Anhui Province efficiently organized a working group to share experiences with South Sudan through this video conference. It vividly reflects the principle of "Sincerity, Real Results, Friendship, and Good Faith" on China-Africa cooperation.

During the meeting, Mr.Gao Junwen, Deputy Director of the Anhui Health commission, briefed the audience the important results of epidemic prevention and control in China and Anhui Province, introduced China's relevant experience in prevention and control. Mr.Wu Jiabing, Deputy Director of the Provincial Center for Disease Control, introduced the work of community-based infection prevention and epidemiological investigations. Liang Chaochao, Dean of the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University introduced the work of prevention and control for hospital, pre-examination and triage for outpatients with fever, and Deputy Dean Fei Guanghe interpreted the seventh edition of COVID-19 diagnosis and treatment plan. The introduction of the chinese officials and experts is professional, practical, and highly targeted, and was welcomed by representatives from South Sudan and WHO. The two sides also exchanged views on the clinical diagnosis, factors affecting transmission, drug use and follow-up medical treatment.

   

Delegates from South Sudan and WHO thanked the Chinese side for its support to South Sudan's medical and health services over the years, and highly evaluate the remarkable results achieved in the prevention and control of COVID-19 in China including Anhui Province. They said that with the growing risk of imported infection, China's timely sharing of valuable experience has strong practical significance and will help South Sudan to strengthen its capacity building and better carry out its work. South Sudan and WHO look forward to working closely with China and international community in fighting the epidemic.
