Assistant Foreign Minister Xu Feihong Attends the National Day Reception of Malaysia

On October 27, 2021, Assistant Foreign Minister Xu Feihong attended upon invitation the National Day Reception of Malaysia held by the Malaysian Embassy in China and exchanged views with Malaysian Ambassador to China Raja Dato' Nushirwan Zainal Abidin on bilateral relations and other issues.

Xu Feihong extended congratulations on the 64th anniversary of the founding of Malaysia and said that China and Malaysia are good friends seeking common development and good partners sharing weal and woe. Under the strategic guidance of the top leadership of the two countries, China and Malaysia are taking the lead in anti-pandemic cooperation among regional countries. Our economic and trade cooperation keeps pressing ahead despite the downward trend, and we coordinate closely with each other in international and regional affairs. In the post-pandemic era, China stands ready to work with Malaysia to continue our collaboration on COVID-19 response, common development and high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, to inject new impetus into China-Malaysia comprehensive strategic partnership and jointly upgrade and enhance China-ASEAN relations.

Nushirwan said that Malaysia and China have maintained friendly relations for thousands of years. With similar cultures and a natural bond of affinity, we are good neighbors and good partners. Malaysia is willing to maintain close high-level exchanges with China and deepen anti-pandemic and development cooperation, pushing Malaysia-China and ASEAN-China relations toward greater progress.
