On December 20, 2021, Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng held the 15th round of China-EU Consultations on Foreign Policies with Deputy Secretary-General of the European External Action Service Enrique Mora via video link.

Xie Feng said, since the beginning of this year, President Xi Jinping has maintained sound momentum of exchanges with leaders of the European Union (EU) and many European countries, charting the course for the development of China-EU relations. State Councilor Wang Yi and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell Fontelles co-chaired the China-EU high-level strategic dialogue and reached important consensus on sticking to the leading results of China-EU dialogue and cooperation. Currently, the international situation is volatile and intertwined, and the world is entering a period of turbulence and change. As important forces in a multipolar world, China and the EU should seek common ground while shelving differences, guide the sound and steady development of China-EU relations through cooperation, and be jointly responsible for and contribute to world peace, prosperity and progress. A strong and united EU that upholds strategic independence serves the common interests of China, the EU and the international community. China is ready to further step up communication and coordination with the EU, jointly advocate peace and stability, promote win-win cooperation, jointly uphold true multilateralism and continuously strengthen inclusiveness and mutual learning. Xie Feng clarified China's position on Taiwan, the Beijing Olympic Winter Games and other issues.

Mora said, the world is facing a series of global issues and challenges. It is of great significance for the EU and China, the two major powers, to conduct exchanges and cooperation on international and regional issues and foreign policy. The EU attaches great importance to developing relations with China, adheres to the one-China policy, and stands ready to strengthen dialogue and communication with China to jointly address global challenges such as COVID-19 and climate change, manage differences responsibly and make greater contributions to maintaining and facilitating global peace, stability and development.

The two sides exchanged in-depth views on major international and regional issues of common concern.
