On January 18, 2022, Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu met with Ecuadorian Ambassador to China Carlos Humberto Larrea Dávila.

Ma Zhaoxu said, China and Ecuador are comprehensive strategic partners. In August last year, President Xi Jinping had a phone conversation with President Guillermo Lasso and drew up a new blueprint for the development of China-Ecuador relations for the next stage. The two sides should implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, further strengthen high-level exchanges, deepen practical cooperation in various fields, and work together to promote the Global Development Initiative, so as to push China-Ecuador relations continuously to a new level and benefit the two countries and two peoples.

Larrea said, Ecuador attaches great importance to developing relations with China. Since President Guillermo Lasso took office last year, positive progress has been made in bilateral cooperation in various fields. Ecuador is willing to work with China to strengthen the exchange of governance experience, expand practical cooperation in various fields and further enrich the connotation of Ecuador-China comprehensive strategic partnership.
