On March 25, 2022, the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) hosted a welcome reception in honor of Secretary-General Zhang Ming and Nowruz celebration activities. Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng attended the reception and the activities by delivering a video speech, in which he congratulated Secretary-General Zhang Ming on taking up his new post and extended holiday greetings to the guests on the spot.

Le Yucheng said, in the face of the current complicated international situation, the SCO, as an important constructive force in international affairs, should actively respond to the expectations of the people of regional countries, continue to carry forward the "Shanghai Spirit", vigorously act on the vision of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security, resolutely oppose returning to the Cold War mentality and inciting bloc confrontation, resolutely oppose illegal unilateral sanctions, and defend international fairness and justice. China is willing to, together with other parties, remain true to our original aspiration and forge ahead, join hands to build a new type of international relations, build a closer SCO community with a shared future, and continuously inject positive energy into peace, stability and development of the region and beyond.

Diplomatic envoys of SCO member states, observer countries and dialogue partners in China, and representatives of relevant countries and international organizations to China, among others, attended the event.
