On July 15, 2022, Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu had a phone conversation with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani at the latter's request. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on the Iranian nuclear issue.

The two sides stressed, currently, the negotiations on resuming compliance with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) are at a crucial juncture. All relevant parties should stick to dialogue and negotiation, work in the same direction, adopt a positive and constructive attitude, avoid taking actions that escalate the situation, push the negotiations to make positive progress at an early date, and realize the early return of the JCPOA to the right track.
