On August 24, 2022, Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng was present and addressed the Supreme People's Court's ''The Third Seminar of International Commercial Expert Committee & Reappointment Ceremony of the First Group of Expert Members''. He said, through the  conflicts and disputes and governance dilemma around the world nowadays, what is highlighted is that the spirit of the rule of law has not been effectively followed, and the principles of international law, the basic norms governing international relations and international order have been wantonly undermined. A certain country selectively applies international law. On the one hand, it gangs up on countries who don't follow suit, forms an exclusive clique and makes rules that suit its bloc. On the other hand, it withdraws from treaties and organizations, which undermines the international rule of law. That certain country puts its domestic law above international treaties, abuses "long-arm jurisdiction" and unilateral sanctions, and uses force or threatens other countries by force at every turn. The certain country practices double standards and exceptionalism, violently interferes in other countries' internal affairs, and undermines other countries' sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Xie Feng pointed out, Pelosi's sneaky visit to Taiwan is a serious violation of the provisions of the three China-U.S. joint communiqués, a serious violation of the consensus of the international community on the one-China principle, a serious violation of the principle of international law of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity, a serious violation of non-interference in internal affairs, which is a basic norm governing international relations, a serious violation of the Cairo Declaration, the Potsdam Declaration and the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758, and a serious damage of the international order. China's countermeasures based on sufficient and solid legal bases are not only to safeguard its own legitimate rights and interests, but also to safeguard the common rights and interests of the international community, especially of the vast developing countries, and to uphold the international rule of law with concrete actions. Fairness and justice will always prevail. Recently, more than 170 countries and international organizations have publicly reaffirmed their support for the one-China principle. The U.S. side should get a clear understanding  of what the shared aspiration of the international community is, follow the common will of the international community, stop challenging the principles of international law, stop challenging the basic norms governing international relations, and stop its retrogressive acts of undermining the international rule of law and international order.
