On September 26, 2022, Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li met with the new Head of the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to China Jorge Toledo Albinana.

Deng Li welcomed Jorge Toledo Albinana to China to take up the post, noting that China sees the EU as a comprehensive strategic partner, and maintains a stable policy towards the EU. Given the current circumstances, it is important for China and the EU to respect each other's core interests and major concerns, advance dialogue and cooperation in a calm and pragmatic manner, and work together to address climate change and other global issues, so as to contribute stability and certainty to the turbulent world.

Jorge Toledo Albinana said that the EU attaches great importance to the status and role of China as a major country, and stands ready to carry out practical and constructive dialogue and cooperation with China at bilateral and multilateral levels, promote    bilateral relations to deliver more positive outcomes, and properly manage differences between the two sides.

The two sides also exchanged views on the Ukraine issue, among others.
