On January 18, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong met at request with Indian Ambassador to China Pradeep Kumar Rawat.

Sun Weidong briefed on the great significance of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and emphasized that China has always been committed to its foreign policy goals of upholding world peace and promoting common development. The report to the 20th CPC National Congress has comprehensively laid down goals and tasks for China’s political, economic and social development in the coming five years and beyond. China’s development has bright prospects, and will bring new opportunities to India and all other countries in the world and present the world with more certainties and stabilizing factors.

India, with multiple identities such as an ancient civilization, a major developing country and a major emerging economy, is an important neighboring country of China, and China always attaches great importance to China-India relations. The China-India border situation is generally stable at the moment, and is switching from emergency response to normalized management and control. The two sides should stand high and look far, view bilateral relations from a comprehensive and long-term perspective, implement the important consensus between the two countries’ leaders, strengthen communication and coordination, properly manage differences, and jointly promote stable and sound development of China-India relations.

Pradeep Kumar Rawat once again congratulated on the success of the 20th CPC National Congress, wishes in advance the Chinese people a happy Spring Festival, and said that India is glad to see China realizing national rejuvenation and is ready to develop sound relations with China. The international situation is turbulent at the moment,  and enhancing coordination between India and China is beneficial to the two sides, and both sides should view bilateral relations in the long run. Only when India and China join hands for cooperation will an Asian century be achieved.
