On April 23, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu held diplomatic consultation with Russian First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Vladimir Gennadievich Titov in Beijing.

Ma Zhaoxu recalled President Xi Jinping's successful state visit to Russia in March this year. He noted that President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin had reached new important common understandings on expanding cooperation between China and Russia in various fields. The foreign affairs departments of the two countries should follow through on the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state to promote the development of China-Russia strategic coordination at a high level.

Titov said that the meeting between President Putin and President Xi Jinping in Moscow had yielded fruitful outcomes, laying a solid foundation for the development of Russia-China relations in the next stage. Under complex and volatile international circumstances, Russia is ready to strengthen coordination with China to better safeguard the common interests of both sides.

The two sides exchanged views on the current international situation, the foreign policies of both countries, and international and regional issues of mutual interest and concern.
