Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu Visits Fiji

On April 14, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu met in Suva respectively with Speaker of the Fijian Parliament Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica, and Assistant Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Sakiusa Tubuna.

Ma Zhaoxu said that over the past 48 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China has always seen Fiji as a good friend, a good brother and a good partner, and tried its best to support Fiji in its development and revitalization endeavors. Under the new circumstances, China is ready to work with Fiji to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation on the basis of respecting respective core interests, and push forward bilateral relations.

The Fijian side thanked China for its long-term and selfless assistance and support to Fiji, and expected to continue to strengthen cooperation with China in various fields, to help boost the economic development of Fiji. Fiji stays committed to the one-China principle.

Ma Zhaoxu also met with Secretary General  of the Pacific Islands Forum Henry Puna, and had an in-depth exchange of views with him on relations between China and the Pacific Island Countries, among others.
