Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan Meets with Representative of the Chinese Government Zhang Yesui

On February 28, 2017, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan met with Representative of the Chinese Government and Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui in Islamabad.

Nawaz Sharif thanked the Chinese government for assigning a representative as special guest to attend the 13th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit and expressed that Pakistan and China are all-weather strategic and cooperative partners. The Pakistani government is committed to consolidating its special and friendly relations with China and is willing to maintain bilateral high-level exchanges, make every effort to advance the construction of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and strengthen strategic communication and mutual support on major issues with China, so as to elevate bilateral relations to a new stage.

Zhang Yesui noted that under the theme of "Connectivity for Regional Prosperity", the 13th ECO Summit will be conducive to injecting new vitality into regional cooperation. The International Cooperation Summit Forum on the "Belt and Road" Initiative will be held in Beijing this May, which will focus on international cooperation in connectivity to promote regional economic growth and common development. Attaching great importance to the all-weather strategic and cooperative partnership with Pakistan, China will earnestly implement the consensus reached by leaders of both countries, and unswervingly advance the construction of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, so as to make contributions to promoting regional peace and prosperity.
