Win-win Development is the Theme of the International Cooperation Summit Forum on the "Belt and Road" Initiative

On March 1, 2017, Representative of the Chinese Government and Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui attended and addressed the 13th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit held in Islamabad, Pakistan as a special guest.

Zhang Yesui said that President Xi Jinping proposed the initiative of jointly building the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-century Maritime Silk Road in 2013, which gained active support and participation from countries along the "Belt and Road", including the ECO member states. A batch of major cooperation projects were launched and have achieved initial results. China will hold the International Cooperation Summit Forum on the "Belt and Road" Initiative in Beijing this May. Under the theme of win-win development and with extending connectivity as its mainline, the forum will advance practical cooperation in key fields and make contributions to promoting regional common development.

The ECO is a regional cooperation organization consists of 10 countries from West Asia, South Asia and Central Asia. Under the theme of Connectivity for Regional Prosperity, the summit is chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan, current ECO presidency. Leaders or senior representatives of each member states attended the summit.
