Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu Attends and Addresses the First Sustainable Development Forum

On October 24, 2019, the First Sustainable Development Forum was held in Beijing. Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu attended and addressed the function.

Ma Zhaoxu expressed, President Xi Jinping specially sent a congratulatory letter to the forum, which fully shows the great importance the Chinese government attaches to sustainable development. While implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, we must adopt a development-oriented and people-centered approach. Development should be placed at the center of the global macro policy framework. We need to optimize the global development partnership, resolutely adhere to multilateralism, resolutely uphold the international system centered on the United Nations (UN) and push the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Ma Zhaoxu Expressed, China comprehensively implements the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and is among the first to release a national plan and progress report on implementation of the agenda. China remains firm in following the path of green, low-carbon and sustainable development, pursues a people-centered development philosophy vision and earnestly fulfills President Xi Jinping's solemn commitment made at the UN Sustainable Development Summit 2015. As the largest developing country, China will continue to work with the international community to make its due contributions to boosting the cause of mankind and advancing international development and cooperation.

During the opening ceremony, Ma Zhaoxu also attended the launching ceremony of the China's Progress Report on Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (2019) and the unveiling ceremony of a sustainable development theme park and educational base for cultural inclusiveness.
