Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng Visits Xiongan New Area with Diplomatic Envoys of Eurasian Countries to China

2020/10/21

On October 20, 2020, Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng invited diplomatic envoys of Eurasian countries to China and Secretary-General of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to visit Xiongan New Area in Hebei Province. The delegation visited the planning exhibition center of the new area, inspected the construction sites of business service center and resettlement houses, and reached out to the villagers in Baiyangdian Lake area to learn about people's living conditions and ecological environmental governance. Deputy Secretary of the CPC Hebei Provincial Committee, Vice Governor of Hebei Province and Secretary of Party Working Committee of Xiongan New Area Chen Gang met with the delegation. Vice Governor of Hebei Province Xia Yanjun attended relevant activities.

Le Yucheng said the construction of Xiongan New Area is "a millennium plan and a great national event". President Xi Jinping stressed that the construction of the new area needs to fully implement the new development concept, adhere to the requirements for high-quality development and strive to create a benchmark for high-quality development in the new era. The construction of Xiongan New Area reflects China's strategic determination and composure to deepen reform and pursue high-quality development. At a conference celebrating the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, President Xi Jinping pointed out that reform and opening up should be pushed forward from a higher starting point. China's door of opening-up will not be closed and will only open wider. When the construction completes, Xiongan New Area will become a new platform for all-round opening up in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, contributing to a "dual circulation" development pattern in which domestic economic cycle plays a leading role while international economic cycle remains its extension and supplement. He hopes that Eurasian countries will continue to pay attention to the development of Xiongan, actively participate in relevant cooperation, share opportunities and seek common development with China.

The diplomatic envoys thanked the Foreign Ministry and Hebei Province for organizing the visit, and agreed that the construction of Xiongan New Area demonstrates China's innovative practice of unswervingly implementing the new development philosophy, comprehensively deepening reform and opening up, and scientifically improving urban governance. They believe that Xiongan New Area will provide a new driving force for the development of China and the entire Eurasian region. Eurasian countries are strategic partners of China. They are ready to deepen cooperation with China and realize common development within the bilateral framework and the Belt and Road Initiative.
