On April 5, 2005, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui met with Philippe Delmas, Executive Vice President of Airbus. Delmas introduced Airbus' cooperation with Chinese aviation businesses and, on behalf of his company, extended to Zhang a RMB200, 000 worth cheque to assist students in Jinping and Malipo counties of Yunnan province which are the designated destinations of the Foreign Ministry's poverty relief efforts. Zhang noted that he is very glad to see the substantial progress of Airbus' cooperation with Chinese companies in the field of aviation and expressed thanks to Airbus for its active role in China's poverty relief efforts as demonstrated by its donation to the two countries once again. Zhang also briefed Delmas about the poverty conditions and the Ministry's relief efforts there, expressing hope that Airbus would continue to extend support and help and noting it is welcomed that Airbus sends delegates to pay field visit to the two counties whenever convenient.

In April last year to support the Foreign Ministry's poverty relief efforts in the two counties, Airbus China Limited donated RMB200,000 to the Ministry for the purpose of helping the poor local primary and middle school students. By the end of last year the Poverty Relief Office and the Education Bureau of the two counties has helped 100 poor students with the donation and sent letters to Airbus to express their appreciations for the company's generous help.
