On May 18, 2011, Vice Foreign Minister Song Tao, who is also the head of the Poverty Alleviation Leadership Group of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with Rainer Ohler, Senior Vice President of Airbus for public affairs and communications and accepted the 200,000-yuan donation from Airbus for poverty alleviation.

Song gave them an overview of the ministry's one-on-one poverty alleviation activities in Yunnan. He said that over the past 3 decades, China's economy has witness sustained growth and the overall national strength has seen continuous enhancement. However, the development is uneven. China is a socialist nation. The nature of socialism is to eliminate poverty and achieve common prosperity. According to the master planning of the State Council, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has engaged in one-on-one poverty alleviation in Yunnan for 19 successive years. Song expressed thanks to Airbus and other communities for their strong support to the ministry's poverty alleviation work. Song welcomed Rainer Ohler to visit Malipo County. He believed that the trip will help Ohler get a more comprehensive and objective picture of China's national conditions and gain a deep understanding of the fact that China remains a developing nation. Song congratulated Airbus on its increased market shares in China. He hoped that Airbus and the ministry could further strengthen cooperation in poverty alleviation.

Rainer Ohler expressed his admirations for the achievements China has made over the past 30 years and more since the reform and opening up. He also briefly introduced the development of Airbus in China. He was honored to have the opportunity to help the poor regions in China and advance the educational undertakings in these poor regions. He said that with the further expansion of Airbus's business in China, Airbus will expand the cooperation with the ministry in poverty alleviation.

Song presented the Certificate of Honor and a letter of thanks to Airbus.
