China and India Hold in Beijing Meeting of Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination over Border Affairs

From October 8 to 9, 2015, China and India held the meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on China-India Border Affairs in Beijing. The Chinese delegation was headed by Director-General of the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Ouyang Yujing. The Indian delegation was led by Joint Secretary of the East Asia Division of the Ministry of External Affairs Pradeep Kumar Rawat. Representatives of diplomatic, national defense and public security departments from both sides attended the meeting.

The meeting was held in a friendly, frank and practical atmosphere. Both sides reviewed situations of border areas between the two countries and implementation of trust-building measures in the previous year and exchanged in-depth views on matters concerning peace and stability in border areas between both countries. Both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and tranquility in the border areas and agreed to follow important consensus reached by leaders of both countries to further enhance communication and coordination, explore measures to promote mutual trust, advance cooperation in the border areas and well safeguard peace and stability of the border areas.
