Director-General of the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Yi Xianliang Attends the 4th International Workshop on Cooperation and Development in the South China Sea and Delivers a Keynote Speech

On March 27, 2018, Director-General of the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Yi Xianliang attended the 4th International Workshop on Cooperation and Development in the South China Sea and delivered a keynote speech. Director-General Yi Xianliang introduced the current maritime situation in the Asia-Pacific as well as relevant situation regarding cooperation in the South China Sea. It is hoped that the participants will focus on cooperation in the South China Sea, contribute ideas, find solutions and make plans for the future, so as to expand and deepen cooperation in the South China Sea.

The International Workshop on Cooperation and Development in the South China Sea was co-organized by China Institute for Marine Affairs of the State Oceanic Administration and Wuhan University China Institute of Boundary and Ocean Studies. The topics of the workshop include maritime cooperation and international law, practices of maritime cooperation in the South China Sea, as well as the cooperation mechanism in the South China Sea and others. The participants include scholars from both sides of the Straits, and representatives from Thailand, Myanmar, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and the West Pacific Office of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
