On July 12, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu met with Advisor to Nicaraguan President on Investment, Trade and International Cooperation and Coordinator for Cooperation with China Laureano Ortega Murillo.

Ma Zhaoxu said that since the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Nicaragua more than one year ago, bilateral relations have realized leap-forward development under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, and China and Nicaragua have already become good brothers and good partners who have supported each other for common development. China is ready to upgrade the level of bilateral relations with Nicaragua, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, strengthen coordination on multilateral affairs, and work for more fruitful outcomes of China-Nicaragua relations.

Laureano Ortega Murillo said that Nicaragua cherishes the brotherly friendship with China. Nicaragua remains firmly committed to the one-China principle, firmly supports China in safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and highly appreciates China for its contributions in safeguarding international fairness and justice and promoting common prosperity and development of the world. Nicaragua is ready to work with China to achieve greater development of Nicaragua-China relations.
