Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng: The So-called "U.S. Decline" is Decline of Hegemony and Thought

2021/07/10

On July 9, 2021, Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng said in an interview on the "China Forum" column of guancha.cn, the decline of the U.S. is its hegemony, not its strength. In terms of strength, the U.S. is still the world No. 1 power and superpower, and it can't be surpassed in a long period ahead. However, a country seeking hegemony is bound to fall no matter how powerful it is. Hegemony receives no support. Nowadays, the country will be doomed to fail if it wants to continue its hegemony, command the world and randomly interfere in other countries' internal affairs. In addition, for a big country, the decline of thought is much more dangerous than that of power. In the 21st century, a multi-polar and globalized era, no country should resort to Cold War mentality to contain other countries, form "small cliques", seek bloc confrontation, and handle matters according to the law of the jungle. These outdated thoughts do not work in the present world, but only will bring harm to others and themselves. In the end, they will be abandoned by the times.
