Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng: To Destabilize China is Not the Solution to American Problems

2021/07/10

On July 9, 2021, Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng said in an interview on the "China Forum" column of guancha.cn, some persons in the U.S. try every means to blame China for problems in the U.S. For a superpower like the U.S., the biggest challenge is always itself, and to destabilize China is by no means the solution to American problems. China has no intention to compete with the U.S., but to seek its own progress and breakthrough. We have no strategy of seeking hegemony, but to pursue its own development. Its aim is to realize the people's aspiration for a better life. The engagement with China from the so-called "position of strength" exposes the hegemonistic mindset and Cold War mentality, reflecting the U.S. is flexing muscles, and wielding a stick to scare others. Intimidation will never work on the Chinese people. Even in the years when we were in dire poverty, and our army had only millet to eat and only rifles to fight with, we had never been scared by any one, let alone the present "position of strength".
