Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Haixing Attends the Release Ceremony of Documentation Collection of China-Soviet Relations

On April 28, 2016, the release ceremony of Documentation Collection of China-Soviet Relations (1952-1955) was held at the Russian Embassy in China. Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov chaired and addressed the ceremony. Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Haixing and Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov of Russia attended and delivered speeches at the ceremony.

Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Haixing said in his speech that the historical documentation collection on bilateral relations, jointly edited and published by both Ministries of Foreign Affairs, has successfully opened a new area of bilateral cooperation and is an embodiment of political mutual trust between China and Russia. The Documentation Collection is a relatively systematic reflection of the exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in various areas in the early 1950s. It reproduces the important historic moments and major events of milestone significance in the course of China-Soviet relations during that period and witnesses the traditional friendship of the two peoples, exerting great historic values. The release of the Documentation Collection will play a unique role in enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples, especially between the younger generations.

Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov said in the speech that the joint editing and publishing of the Documentation Collection is a highlight in the practical cooperation between both Ministries of Foreign Affairs and the cooperation in documentation has become an indispensable part of the all-round communication and cooperation between China and Russia.

Chief Archivist of the Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lu Guicheng and Director of the Department of History and Records of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Kuznetsov Alexander Igorevich of Russia introduced the editing work at the ceremony. Vice head of the State Archives Administration Wang Shaozhong, staff from such agencies as the International Department of the Central Committee of CPC and CCCPC Party Literature Research Office along with several university teachers and students and media representatives attended the release ceremony.
