President Hu Jintao Meets with Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa of Hang Kong Special Administrative Region

President Hu Jintao who is attending the APEC's 12th informal leadership meeting cordially met and had breakfast with Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR).

Hu Jintao said that currently Hong Kong enjoys social stability and economic recovery. Seeking for development, stability and harmony is the mainstream social consensus. He hopes the Hong Kong SAR will maintain the good momentum of prosperity and stability, put priority on development and benefit the Hong Kong people tangibly. The Central Government will continue to pay attention to and support the socio-economic development in Hong Kong based on the actual needs of the SAR. Tung Chee Hwa thanked the Central Government for its vigorous support for the Hong Kong SAR government and said that the Hong Kong SAR government will continue with rule by law, unify the Hong Kong citizens in improving its work in all aspects, further develop the economy, seek new growth points, truly improve people's life and help people solve practical difficulties so that they can obtain more tangible benefits.

Present were also Hu Jintao's wife Liu Yongqing, Secretary Wang Gang of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, etc.
