Vice Foreign Minister Li Jinzhang Meets with Macao Youth Federation Delegation

On December 1, 2009, Vice Foreign Minister Li Jinzhang met with the visiting 20-member delegation of the 2009 Macao Youth Political Capacity Training Program sponsored by Macao Youth Federation.

Li first of all extended warm welcome to the delegation. He said that this year marks the 60th anniversary of the founding of New China and the 10th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland. It is significant for the delegation to visit mainland China and learn about the politics, economy, diplomacy, science and technology, culture and history of the motherland. He briefly introduced China's development achievements over the past 60 years, the current international situation and China's general foreign policy. He sent to the delegation the message that "if the youth are wise, the country will be wise; if the youth are wealthy, the country will be wealthy; if the youth are strong, the country will be strong" and expressed hope that through the visit they will better understand the history and current situation of the motherland, as well as what China needs for further development and their mission and heavy responsibility, cultivate their moral character, work hard and contribute wisdom and strength to the building of a prosperous Macao and motherland.

The delegation attended the press conference, listened to the introduction on related international situation and China's diplomatic policy, and exchanged opinions with diplomats. They said that the visit to the foreign ministry is a great opportunity during which they have learned a lot and broadened horizon. In the future, they will pay greater attention to and extend wider support for the diplomatic undertaking of the motherland.
