Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi Meets with Donald Tsang Yam-Kuen, Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive

On March 4, 2010, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with Donald Tsang Yam-Kuen, Hong Kong SAR chief executive. Both sides exchanged views on how to do a good job in Hong Kong-related diplomatic work under the new situation. Yang said under the leadership of the Chief Executive Donald Tsang Yam-Kuen, the Hong Kong SAR has properly coped with the impact of the global financial crisis, with its economy gradually recovering, foreign exchanges expanding and international status and influence continuously rising. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will as always support the SAR's efforts to expand foreign exchange and cooperation and to build Hong Kong into an international financial and exhibition center and a centre for legal dispute resolution. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will do its utmost to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Hong Kong people abroad. Donald Tsang Yam-Kuen thanked for the long-standing support the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its Commissioner's Office in Hong Kong have offered to the Hong Kong SAR Government, pledging to further enhance exchanges and cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
